Freeport Bar & Imperator

Somewhere on each galaxy map stands the intergalactic freeport — a neutral hub station or ancient megaship. It is the social and economic heart of the sector.
Finding the hub
The freeport hides in fog of war until discovered. Then it stays on your map and in galactic diplomacy forever — even when fog returns.
After discovery, open the hub like any location for many services without the Imperator. The Imperator is mainly for the bar room (see below).
Hub services (location menu)
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
| Marketplace | NPC and player trading — prices tied to fair-value rules; negotiate with contacts. |
| Station overseer | Patron NPC — trade requests, non-aggression pacts, hub diplomacy like a player. |
| Smuggler | Instant buys for Galaktikum — black-market heat affects price. |
| Mercenary | Hire NPC fleets for limited jobs. |
| Informant | Pay for intel — map hints and rumours. |
| Bar | Chat + character row — meet NPCs and players (Imperator required to enter). |
Destroying the hub permanently removes these services on that map — the location becomes a normal claimable site.
Entering the bar
The bar is separate from the outer hub menu:
- Bring your Imperator ship near the freeport.
- Open the hub and enter the bar.
- Map-local chat runs while the panel is open.
- Click characters in the row — trade, smuggler, tips, alliance talk, acquaintance unlock.
Map discovery alone is not enough for deep deals — meeting in the bar activates many NPC and player services.
Global chat (optional)
A galaxy-wide bar channel may unlock with Imperator nearby or a special avatar with bar access.
Combat note
Imperator and trade ships at the hub do not fire on each other, and hub guns ignore them — commerce stays safe. Pirates and hostile fleets are not protected.
Respect bar rules — filtered chat, report abuse, no spam.
